Owner - Liam King (they/them)

I provide culturally safe and affirming virtual therapy services to community members in British Columbia. My services are focused on supporting clients heal from systems of oppression and take a holistic approach to wellness. After engaging in therapy, clients often report feeling an increased sense of self-identity and resiliency, higher self-esteem, and a greater sense of empowerment. I approach my work through a narrative storytelling lens using my own lived experiences as an Indigenous Gender-Diverse person to relate to my clients in meaningful ways.

I ground my work in Indigenous Feminist, 2Spirit, and Queer perspectives that understand the subjective nature of client experiences. This approach recognizes power dynamics, issues of gender-based violence, and the role they serve in colonialism. We all experience the world differently, therefore I believe the approach used with each client needs to be as diverse and unique as they are. Together, we will work to understand which skills and practices best fit your needs.

My Story

I was raised in a small rural town in British Columbia. Growing up, I didn't have the privilege of understanding my Indigenous or gender-diverse identities. This came to me quite late in life. Not understanding these aspects of myself took a toll as I grew and developed, resulting in unhappiness, confusion, shame, and doubt. I found my own therapeutic journey to be the cornerstone of my healing, providing me with a trusting relationship, skills, and knowledge to build a positive and meaningful life. Going on this journey of self-discovery has guided me to work with Indigenous and 2SLGBTQIA+ Peoples and support them in better understanding their identity and how to achieve balance.

I started my university career at Selkirk College in 2014. I then moved on to the University of British Columbia where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (2019). I also earned a Master of Science degree, focusing on Indigenous Gender and Health (2021), and a Master of Social Work degree, focusing on clinical mental health treatment for Indigenous and 2SLGBTQIA+ Peoples (2023).

Today, I live in Vernon, BC with my beautiful family. I enjoy beading, spending time with friends and family, and going on the land for harvesting and ceremony.
